What Is
Restorative Yoga?
Restorative yoga isn't a slower version of a regular class - it's a different practice entirely. Students hold a small number of fully supported postures for extended periods, using props to remove effort from the body completely. There's no strength-building, no flow, no performance. The goal is to give the nervous system a real, physiological chance to shift out of stress and into recovery.
For years, restorative sat at the edges of yoga, something offered once a month as an afterthought. Now, as people live in a near-constant state of stress, restorative has moved from niche to essential: students are actively seeking out classes that help them actually rest. Teachers that can offer this well are meeting a demand most yoga studios need.
Why Is It
Going Mainstream?

Why Every Teacher Needs This Skill
Most 200-hour trainings barely touch restorative - a pose or two, a passing mention of props, and that's it. But teaching true rest is its own discipline: understanding the nervous system, knowing how to set a body up for full support, and holding space for a room that isn't moving. Teachers who can offer this well aren't just adding a class to their schedule - they're offering something students increasingly can't find elsewhere, and building a skill set that sets them apart from every teacher who only knows how to teach effort.
